This Sunday, it’s a “combo” galore. Malaysian Tamil meals are all about the combination of dishes. That’s how our mums and grandmothers cooked. So here’s my dish pairing for this Sunday. I’m cooking Chinna Vengaya Kottumalli Sambar (dhall curry with lots of pearl onions/shallots and coriander leaf), Vanjaram Meen Poriyal (freshly fried, spiced, thick cut steaks of Indian Mackerel or Seer Fish), Yeral Varuval (Tiger prawn dry masala), Kovil Paithangai (temple-style long beans), Mullai Keerai Poriyal (stir fried spinach with grated coconut), Inji Puli (Kerala ginger pickles), Pappadams, and Basmati Vellai Soru (steamed basmati rice).
